There are some gigs that you'll remember for the rest of your life. The sort of gig that, in a few years time, when my daughter asks what my favourite gig ever was, will be up there. The whole night was moment after moment. 7 of us, my wife, brother and 4 best mates, went for a weekend to Dublin. Being surrounded by my favourite people watching one of my favourite moments was beautiful. I'll talk more about the band in the next post (I saw them less than a week later), but highlights away from being arm in arm with all these people I love, included the band walking through the crowd right past us for their entrance and a poignant cover of "Let it Linger" by The Cranberries, in tribute to the recently deceased Dolores O'Riordan, But ultimately this was a band on top of their game, and a week later still makes me smile.
This was the first gig of their European tour (and last tour for a while). They had the rare set up of the stage in the middle of the crowd. I’ve seen other bands try this, and fail. Needless to say, Arcade Fire smashed it.
